Microsoft: Code; Without Barriers

Helping close the gender gap in tech and catching the attention of Satya Nadella

One of the things that I’m very excited also is to bring one of the initiatives which we’ve had called Code Without Barriers, and expanding to India and really helping 75,000 women developers by 2024.

Challenge:

The tech industry talks a lot about diversity, yet female developers are still vastly underrepresented, particularly in APAC. Microsoft came to us for ideas to help close this gap and empower more women in IT.

Idea:
I conceptualised Code; Without Barriers, a platform designed to inspire, educate, and connect women across the region. What began as a webinar has evolved into a broader ecosystem of upskilling programmes, hackathons, mentorship, career opportunities and community initiatives across APAC.

Outcome:
Code; Without Barriers continues to grow, even catching the attention of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who has helped to expand the initiative internationally.
